Bakery and Catering Equipment Ltd were engaged to locate a 2nd hand 3000 units per hour automated Bread Plant. Within a week of the request being made, Derek was back to me with pictures and locations of several options. 2 weeks later Derek and I flew to Germany to view the 1st option then carried onto the Czech Republic to view an alternative. It was agreed to purchase the Prague option. The purchase price was discussed between Derek and me and then Derek negotiated with the sellers to that agreed price. These discussions only took 6 hours before all parties would agree. During this time I was kept well informed of how the negotiations were progressing. This was the easy part.

We were informed by a professional packing company that shipping would require 25 x 14 ft containers. Derek did not believe this to be correct.

Shipping back to New Zealand was again handled by Bakery and Catering Equipment Ltd. Derek flew back to Prague and supervised the packing and shipping, reducing this from 25 to 16 containers. This on its own was a considerable saving for us. The logistical challenges of working in a foreign country where different work ethics are employed were challenging for Derek but from the comfort of New Zealand I had every faith that we were on time to meet our tight timeframe. The shipment arrived, was cleared and delivery organized to our site in Christchurch in perfect condition. A testament to the effort and organizational skills utilized by Derek was the full clearance of the shipment by MAF prior to arrival into port. This saved considerable time, money and energy by not having to double handle the devanning of the plant.

I can highly recommend Bakery and Catering Equipment Ltd to assist in any machinery, technical enquiry that you may have. Derek works as a partner rather than another sales person and puts the same amount of energy and attention to detail into the purchase of a $1000.00 piece of equipment as he does into a multimillion dollar deal. Bakery & Catering Equipment Limited was instrumental in the negotiation and purchase of a Bassanina Double Rack Oven which was imported from Italy and installed in Sydenham Bakery in May 2010.

Through their vast experience in the industry and many business contacts they were able to advise us as to the most suitable oven available in the market for our business. BACEL facilitated the importation and delivery of the oven to our premises and arranged for it to be installed and followed up with the necessary training required to operate the oven successfully.

We employed BACEL as consultants, to help us with the growth we had experienced in our bakery by being ranged nationally with supermarket chains in New Zealand.

BACELS helped us in a number of ways.

Production:

due to the growth of our Gluten free products, BACEL looked at the wastage, how the production team operated under new pressure, how the bakers managed their time, and they set new standards and procedures to enable a win win situation for both staff and management.

BACEL identified the needs of the team in the way of training and offered some great ideas, which we have put in place and the time management skills have shown savings to date.

A new wind tunnel was developed to create speed in trhe cooling process, enabling us to get the product to market days earlier. Dollies werr put in place, again for speed production.

BACEL's contacts all around the world, helped with the recipe ideas, machinery and layouts in the factory over the months, that they were here.
